Reflection & Giving Thanks.

This time of year is a time for reflection. It is a good time to reflect on the year’s good fortune, the horrible misfortune of those who have found themselves in the path of natural disasters that have made us all too aware of the delicate balance of life and the fact that we aren’t really in control of it. It is a time to give thanks for what we have; hope for our dreams and thanks to the service members that continue to pay the ultimate sacrifice for something far greater than themselves.

Celebrate and reflect on what is important: family, faith, friends, and loved ones.

Reflect and feel proud that you are a citizen of a country that responds to those in need, no matter where in the world they are.

Reflect and feel safe that you can ride your bike in peace.

Ride your bike and it is easy to reflect!

New Gunnar Logo!

As you may have noticed, there has been a new chainring logo gracing the front page of the Gunnar web site. This logo will be on the headtube of current Gunnars and soon to follow accessories.

New Gunnar Logo

It is a Labrador paw inside of an ovalized chainring. We feel it symbolizes all the original traits you have come to expect from our loyal friend and your training partner:

Reliability, Discipline, Speed, Strength, Friendliness, Simplicity.

All New Street Dog Details!

OS2, Compact Fit and Race Brakes.

Gunnar’s Street Dog received a major face lift this year, making it even more popular and the ultimate trainer or fixed gear fantasy:

  • Gunnar’s new OS2 technology is standard, with a lightweight 1 3/8” downtube and 1 ¼” top tube. OS2 continues to fulfill the promise of air-hardening steels, taking a quarter pound off the frame weight while keeping the ride responsive and comfortable.
  • With 1 1/8” fork steerer and 49mm race brake compatibility the Street Dog now fits a wide variety of composite forks such as the Roadie’s 1 1/8” Profile BRC fork and Gunnar’s own straight-blade 1 1/8” steel fork.  Our new compact geometry makes it easier to find the right fit within our range of stock sizes, which correspond to classic road sizes. The rider who fits a classic 56cm (center to top) road frame will fit the 56cm Street Dog (which has a 53cm seatmast). Riders with relatively short legs find the Street Dog’s lower (by 15mm) standover height handy for fitting them as well.

Of course, the Street Dog has kept much of what we like:

  • It retains its sporty handling and stiffness.
  • Fit proportions remain the same. For example, both the old and the new 56cm Sport have a 56cm theoretical top tube.
  • You get proportional tube designs, so riders of all sizes will get the same great ride.
  • The Street Dog’s rear dropouts include integrated rear eyelets. It has a 20 pound load capacity, double water bottle bosses plus room for 25C tires.
  • Fine workmanship with close miters, clean welding and precision alignment.
  • Available made-to-measure design services by which we can meet a broad range of rider needs and desires.
  • Gunnar’s tough, glossy polyurethane enamel finishes in five standard and three rotating colors. You can upgrade to the Waterford custom finish, with access to hundreds of colors, dozens of special effects and countless possibilities.
  • Gunnar’s Loyal Friend Lifetime Warranty – where you know that we back you and your riders up.

Gunnar Team Profile!

Torch master Eric Butler has plied his craft here for over five years and adds his skilled touch to nearly every single Gunnar we build.  He started in our machine shop and progressed to master builder.  His responsibilities include building and finish brazing Heron, Waterford, Gunnar and Standard BMX frames.

When not melting metal, the self-professed internet junkie builds computers, flies radio controlled airplanes and plays ice hockey on four different teams. Two as a goalie and two as a center!

Thanks Eric for sharing your talents: with us and the rest of the Gunnar world!

Starting out as a single store location in Georgetown, Revolution Cycles has grown into a four store powerhouse in the greater Washington DC market.

Joining us in 1998, Revolution has held the number one Gunnar dealership for the previous three years and is the current number two dealer. They are also one of the top Waterford dealers.

Revolution’s Floyd Alvarez says “There is no better bargain, the Gunnar is an awesome value and nothing feels better than selling outstanding hand built American made bikes you believe in. It’s an affordable custom.”   “I personally believe that steel is the best ride so selling them is easy since I own two myself!”

Thank you Mike, Coach, Pinkey, Matt, Pat, Floyd and the rest of the Revolution gang! Great Job! Your performance defines excellence.
